This set of two compact discs features first place winners in the Artist Division of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival from its inception in 1986 through 2000. Sixteen performers are included on this recording - twelve euphoniumists, and four tubists (tuba was added to the festival competition slate in 1996). The Festival awards cash prizes to twelve finalists each year in both the Artist Division (open enrollment age) and the Student Division (high school enrollment age), with the year 2000 prize award total at $10,900. The festival has consistently been a launching pad for euphonium and tuba performers, with many former participants and prize winners moving on to internationally recognized careers.

Each of the artist winners that appear on these compact discs was asked (in 2000) to submit a recording of their own choosing which showcases their talents, resulting in a diverse spectrum of repertoire and an interesting glimpse at many excellent tonal concepts and performance traits. All proceeds from the sale of these discs go directly to support the continued activities of the Falcone Festival.
