There are no orange construction barrels, but you can see that we have a different “look” as the Falcone Festival website undergoes a complete upgrade. The site is now responsive and you should still be able to find what you are looking for under the menu items, which have not been changed. We are working to make sure everything is still operating properly, with some design changes, and ultimately some upgraded functionality coming, but we may be unavailable off and on until roughly mid-January. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have an urgent question, email Jane Goodrich or send a question to the falcone.festival on Facebook.

Fritz Stansell

StansellWe are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Fritz Stansell, founder and president emeritus of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Fritz Stansell was also one of the original founders of the Falcone Festival and had an incredible impact on the music world. Our most sincere condolences to the Stansell family and BLFAC community during these difficult times.

Blue Lake’s founder and president emeritus, Fritz Stansell, has passed away at the age of 92. He leaves a legacy that will forever inspire our mission and vision. Thank you, Mr. Stansell. Ars longa, vita brevis. You can read his obituary here.

Dear Friends of the Falcone Festival:

I would like to provide you with a quick update from the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival. Our 2012 Festival, held in August at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, was a wonderful success. Joining us for the Twenty-seventh Annual Festival and Competition were featured guest artist Carol Jantsch, eight additional adjudicators, thirty two semifinal competitors, and our terrific Festival board. We enjoyed four evening featured programs, three days of competition in four divisions, several master classes, and the awarding of $13,700 in prize money – all part of an event that honors the legacy of Dr. Leonard Falcone.

As we approach the conclusion of 2012 and in preparation for the 2013 Festival, I want to encourage you to consider a gift in support of the Falcone Festival. Our record of success and growth over more than 27 years would not have been possible without the generous support of our individual donors, corporate advertisers, and sponsors. Since our founding in 1986 we have evolved into the world's premier annual competition for euphonium and tuba!

I'm happy to report that our recent endowment fund challenge match reached its target! The Festival Endowment Fund will help to insure the success of the Falcone Festival for many years to come. We are extremely grateful to all who contributed to the endowment fund with a gift or pledge.

At this time we hope to expand our list of donors to the Festival. I ask that you please consider a cash gift to the Festival in support of general operating funds, toward the endowment fund, or in support of the ongoing targets of prize sponsorship and enhancement, guest artist sponsorship, and our next commission to enhance the solo repertoire. The Falcone Festival is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization (tax ID # 20-0752701) and your individual contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Falcone Festival encourages the highest level of solo performance artistry among emerging euphonium and tuba artists. We have also been able to fulfill many of our other objectives, including
- education and development of younger players
- enhancement of solo repertoire for euphonium and tuba, and
- fostering greater awareness and appreciation for these instruments among the general public.

In turn, each of these efforts has allowed us to keep alive the remarkable legacy of Dr. Leonard Falcone, whose distinguished career as an educator, euphonium soloist, and conductor touched so many musicians over the years. Leonard Falcone served for many years as a faculty member at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp – the location where the Falcone Festival continues to be held.

Chances are that you know someone who has benefitted from the Falcone Festival in past years, or perhaps you even had the opportunity to know and learn from Dr. Falcone directly. We ask that you help to continue this great legacy with a gift to the Falcone Festival! Please print out a donation form and return it, along with your check, to the festival.

A donation form for the Festival can be found here. As always, we welcome your support not only towards our endowment drive, but also toward general operating funds via unrestricted gifts and designated gifts. Please feel free to speak with any Festival Board Member regarding opportunities to contribute to the festival.

Many thanks,
Phil
